OUR STORY
In 1962, Ronald Webber and his wife Miriam founded R.A. Webber & Sons in Harpswell, Maine. Ron was working for the Brunswick public works department at the time — earning a modest weekly wage and supporting a family (his wife, sons Duane and Michael and daughter Dee Dee.) When the opportunity to start pumping septic tanks on the side came along, he took it.
When that truck first arrived in the driveway, Miriam was worried about how they were ever going to pay back the loan.
The first jobs were done with a tank mounted in the back of a dump truck. When there was no septic work, the same truck moved dirt.
It turned out they didn’t need to worry after all. They paid it back. Then they bought another.
One truck became a fleet. A backhoe came next. Crews were hired. A shop was built.
Ron and his two sons continued to grow RA Webber into the company it is today. Now, the third generation—three of Ron’s grandsons—work tirelessly to carry on their grandfather’s legacy.
Over the decades, R.A. Webber & Sons grew into one of midcoast Maine’s most trusted septic and sitework companies — built entirely on word-of-mouth and the quality of the work.

Septic and sitework didn’t carry much prestige in those early years. Ron helped change that.
